It’s often said that fashion inspiration comes from a really wide and diverse assortment of sources, and we’re certain food is one of them. The work of San Francisco-based artist Gretchen Röehrs makes for a pretty amusing and rather literal interpretation of such influence. Röehrs dresses up her whimsical fashion sketches with a variety of foods, manipulating everything from artichokes to oyster shells, to mimic the lines and curves of clothing. Deliciously du jour, indeed.

There are many little pleasures in life, and for us, two of those are sweets and typography (in no particular order). So when we stumbled upon this delicious work by Brazilian art director Ivan Loos, our day got a little brighter. Commissioned by Latin American commercial baking giant Bimbo for its Ana Maria brand, these custom typefaces were developed to appeal to a younger demographic by mimicking filling flavors (chocolate, vanilla and strawberry) for their cakes. Loos’s 3D work is flawless. We love that the characters are not perfect, but reflect the true mass and movement of these decadent delights. Clever name, too! Great work all around.

With spring now in bloom, we are reminded of the bounty of fruits the warmer weather brings. What better way to start a Monday than with this vibrant series of prints by New York City-based designer Chris Dina. We have a certain fondness for series (and fruit!), so these pieces, complete with compelling shapes and colors, and fine typography are certainly worth sharing. Be sure to check out some of Dina’s other work, notably his work on wayfinding and informational signage at iconic Radio City Music Hall.
